About Us

If you live, learn, work, play, dine or recreate in Wolcott, you are a member of the Coalition.

“The Citizens Against Substance Abuse (CASA) Coalition aims to reduce substance abuse and promote wellness in Wolcott through collaboration, education, awareness and community action.” The Coalition was first formed over twenty years ago due to concerned citizens in town who wanted to protect the youth from risky behavior. The Coalition was restructured in 2010 due to community substance abuse problems and has met monthly since than to reduce and prevent substance use among youth.


Upcoming Training: Mental Health First Aid

4 Nights: Tuesdays & Thursdays 5/8, 5/10, 5/15, 5/17

From 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. At Wolcott Senior Center, 211 Nichols Road, Wolcott, CT 06716

This Mental Health First Aid 8-hour certification course is given over 4 evening sessions with time for practice and role-play. Participants will be better able to help individuals and communities understand mental health issues and respond accordingly to those who may be experiencing distress.    

Who should take Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training? • Volunteers and the general public • Town social workers • School personnel, nurses, library staff, clergy, and educators • First-responders, fire, police, and corrections officers • Primary care professionals • Employers, human resources professionals, and business leaders. Mental Health First Aid training helps a person who doesn’t have clinical training assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Feel free to bring business cards & organizational materials for information sharing & networking, if desired. 

Seating is limited to the first 30 registrants Training is being hosted by Citizens Against Substance Abuse (CASA), Wolcott’s Prevention Coalition. Change the Script is a statewide public awareness campaign to help communities deal with the prescription drug and opioids misuse crisis. It connects town leaders, healthcare professionals, treatment professionals and everyday people with the resources they need to face prescription opioid misuse . The CASA Coalition will implement various activities to reduce prescription drug and opioid misuse in the Wolcott Community.
